Imbolc and St. Brigid’s Day

Greetings! As we approach the start of the celebration of Imbolc at sunset today, we wanted to share some inspirational poems and visuals. This poem, by Laura Murphy, comes from our friend and colleague, Valerie Luna Serrels. She says it "was inspired by 'The Song of Amergin,' said to be the first poem ever uttered in Irish mother-tongue. Amergin invoked the powers of this land, the animals, the rivers, the seas by proclaiming, "I am Wind on Sea... I am Ocean-wave... I am Fairest of Flowers... I am Salmon in Pool...I am a Mountain in a Man." Laura invokes the essence of Brigid into our lives by speaking Her essence into our being and into the world. She says, "When we do this, we ignite the inner fires of creativity, inspiration (imbas), healing, love and courage that are needed for the fluorishing of ourselves and our planet." For years, Laura was one of the powerful voices in Ireland working toward the St Brigid Day national holiday."

May you be blessed.
